Suffering and the End of Suffering: A Course for Psychotherapists and Health Professionals

Everyone wants to be happy. No one wants to suffer. But what are the key concepts and practices that can help a human being to come to the end of suffering? Answers can be found in the teaching of the four noble truths; one of the key teachings of Buddhist philosophy. In this course, the instructors present the four noble truths as well as the theory and practice of mindfulness and applied mindfulness in relation to the work of psychotherapists and health professionals. Each session includes guided mindfulness meditation, presentations, mindful inquiry and discussion. The core text is The Four Noble Truths by Ajahn Sumedho (available through CMI), supplemented by excerpted readings and audio files. Weekly assignments focus on applied mindfulness practices and compassionate action in the world.

Certificate: Since 2008, psychotherapists who have taken courses at CMI have successfully received continuing education credit with the certificates we grant from The Center for Mindful Inquiry in order to meet professional requirements.
